Of Matter! Shimmering and Soaring up
Towards ten thousand skies! Majestic
And Mighty!
Eagle proud
and haughty!
Building blocks and play things for the Lord Most High!
The
Golden Mountains of the Moon!
The Scarlet Mounts of Mars!
Ten
zillion
soaring
alpine
peaks around
ten zillion Stars!
Of God's eternal grandeur so silently they sing!
Dressed in SNOW and and
THUNDER!
Rainbows and wonder!
LIGHTNING BOLTS! and heavenfire!
Emerald
trees
And Wind!
If I Were Naming Stars
A Space Poet's Lament
If I were naming things in
Space
Giving tags to every place
I'd give such names to these as Stars;
Torrs and
Garrs and
Snarrs and
Vars!
Alcabars and
Shanadors, and
Blue and
bold Albalzadors!
I wouldn't name them letters Greek
Or after scientists bold or meek
I wouldn't raid the Zodiac
Or give the sky its heroes back
I'd give them names like Matidors
Or Lars or even Theordors
I'd fill the Universe with R's;
Placadars and Shalzadars!
And if you ask me why I'll say
The reason why's as plain as day
I'd give them names to write about
Names with rhythm, names with CLOUT!
Names that you can rhyme with Stars
Besides (you guessed it)
Planet
Mars!
