SONGS OF PRAISE

THE POWERS OF A HIGHER TECHNOLOGY

We can watch a TV Show
And put it onto tape
Catching those
fleeting ethereal waves
for future watching's sake.

Surely
God can watch a Mind
And see its brain waves soaring free
And on His Celestial Videotape
Make sure that Soul will always be!

We can take a pile of films
That are
black and white and glum
And reedit them and change their tint
To
all the colors neath the Sun.

Surely God can take our Souls
That are old and dull and sad
And reedit us and change our Moods
To Rainbow Technicolor glad!

Evening Hymn - To the Tune of "Morning Has Broken.

Twilight descending
Gold Evening sunlight
Cool Breeze luffs softly
God's loving caress
Quiet our soft prayers
Rise
to His warm heart.

Hushed is the loud day
Starting to rest.

Bright is the sunset
Burning like fire
Made by the
One that
Fills all desire!.
Pink for His Kindness
Red for His Bleeding
Gold for His Reigning
Praise for His POWER!

Twinkling the night sky
Silver and Velvet
Like a
soft blanket
For the tired
Earth.
Rest in
His Presence!
Safe in His Loving
Knowing a
New Day
Soon will come forth.

SHINING ORB OF JOY

Like a churning pail of milk
Shining in the greyish Sky
What are you my ancient Moon
Up above my World so high?

Haunting Beauty of a World
Glorious Globe of silent light
Older than our own dear Earth
Shining silver in the night!

Who made you my Pretty One?
Did our God cause you to shine?
Making all the Universe
Painted pictures in His Mind!

Orb of Mystery! Orb of Joy!
Orb that awed our ancient Man!
Orb that turns the
dark country
Into a shining silver land

MICROVERSE

I sensed My Creator's Joy tonight;
His laughter caressed my happy mind:
A miracle He worked for me;
One second became all of Time!

I saw ten billion Stars tonight
Dew drops glowing in the Trees:
Lighted by the
Silver Moon;
An entire Universe of leaves

I knew then that this
world we own
Though small and blue and lost in Space
When lighted by the Love of God
Becomes a joyous Laughing-Place!

THE ALIEN: John 18.36

He walked the dusty paths of Earth
Heard
Cattle cry and Sheep bells
The smell of Sweat was known to Him
Sharp tastes of
wine and bread and cheese.
He admired the
Flowers
Saw
blue Sky and Stars
RESTED IN THE SHADE OF THE
TOWERING MOUNTAINS!

He was one of us
And yet He was an Alien here
His World a different World from
Earth
His home a place of Magic
Far away....
The Beings at all like Him
He had no contact with
He was the ultimate in Aliens
Or Visitors from
Space!
His Kingdom is not of
THIS world

The
loneliness!
How He must have felt it!
To have a destiny that goes beyond
the Stars
Outlives Eternity
Yet to be born of
Earth
One tiny world:
And blinded to His Immortalness
By
fleshly pains and limitations!
How it must have hampered Him!
A gnawing of Destiny deep down inside!
To know that You are great
When others know it not!

What
tears it must have cost Him!

Yet to leave this
tiny Ball
A thousand horrors!
After one has tasted Life here
One is forever an
Earthling.

He knew the good of
Earth
As well as all its
evils.
He saw the
evil that we do
But also saw our unseen courage
He tasted
wine
And went to weddings
Knew our stupidity
And yet forgave it.
He cried deep
tears
He also laughed.

Oh Son of Man!
Your reign is Great now.

I know that you miss the old days.
Sometimes.
Son of God you are
But also
HUMAN!

I'm Dreaming of a Sun Kissed Christmas

I'm dreaming of a Sun kissed Christmas
With the p
alm trees all in a row
With the
grass as green as green can be
I don't care much for
snow!

I'm dreaming of a
S
un kissed Christmas
like the ones I've always seen
Where the
Sun shines bright
As
Love's pure Light
And the trees stay ever green

I'm dreaming of a
S
un kissed Christmas
Where the
sunny oranges grow
With the
ocean breeze
And the
sapphire seas
And the
sands as white as snow

May you always have a
sun kissed Christmas
Wherever you may go
May your
hearts stay warm
And safe from harm
And may your troubles
melt like snow !

JESUS CHRIST, WE LOVE YOUR UNIVERSE

Can be sung to the Tune of Danny Boy

Oh Jesus Christ we love the Universe you’ve made

The
Stars, the Worlds, the Deer that tramps the Glade

The
soaring Birds, the misty Mountain majesties!

We thank your Jesus Christ for every Soul you’ve saved!

Jesus Christ you are the
Spirit of the Wind!

The Verdant Green that clothes our Biosphere

the
Dancing Clouds, the laughing bubbling Mountain Stream

We sense these things and know that Jesus Christ is near!

Jesus Christ you own the Future and the Past!

In your arms you hold each
tiny Living World!

You keep safe each one, and whisper gently, "I love you!"

You guard each one just like a
loving Mother Bird!

Jesus Christ I thank You for Your sacrifice

Come live inside my busy restless mind!

Forgive my faults and fix the flaws that sadden You

Help me forgive the ones who did not treat me kind!

Joy For the Son of Man;
The Offspring Of Mankind

Ephesians 4:15 John 5:27

If we can evolve from pond scum
God can evolve from us!
No force can stop the
Power of Life
From
Evolution's upward thrust.
No eco-niche stays empty long
Glory comes from
dust!

Most burn and burn with deep desire
For Life to never fade!
We long to have eternal life
So Heaven will be made.

The ones who know ask Jesus so
He's glad to give us aid!
Behold the dancing Universe!
God our Father. Christ our Son!
Time a circling round and round,
Child and Parent, One.
What was, will be. What will be, was!
For what the Lord of Hosts decrees
Forever will be done!

CONTRAST

To you a Dusty Carpenter,

To me a Shining Light

To you a bloodied, nail pierced wrist

To me an arm of might!

To you a Gentle Prince of Peace.

To me an awesome sight!

To each of us the opposite

And yet we both are right.

Clay

The whirling worlds His potter’s wheel

What Darwin sought His fiery kiln

To fire a Mind so strong and smart

He takes the Nests of Stars by storm!

One squish of clay, God has a cell.

He adds some lumps, He has a sponge.

He kneads His clay. Behold a fish!

That dances in the waters deep,

And Jesus laughs and claps His hands!

He kneads His clay a little more

Soon a creature stands before

His Maker on tough little fins.

The wonder walks and yet still swims!

God calls!

His creature walks on land!

Stronger still the clay lumps form

They walk and run the rich, wild world

They dance and fight and soar and weep!

Dancing dragons, birds and bears!

Jesus joins inside their dance!

Though yet they do not know!

Firm but loving Fingers knead

a trillion fathers fight and mate

A trillion mothers tend their young

Driven by the silent call

To form the future Prince of God!

Billions of years of strife and love

Broken hearts and floods of blood.

A trillion tales of faith and strength

and sacrifice!

And bitter tears!

Then Son-rise to the dawn of God

The clay lump wakes and KNOWS!

A trillion deaths, a trillion births

a zillion sharp and subtle pains!

All of this the Cross, God paid

to make a Man of Mud!

Life is Hard and Then we Die.

(For Gene)

 Life is hard because

we are toiling painfully

with determined desperation

With tears and bitterness

 With fear and agony and

with strong doubts  that we can even go on!

With Human tenacity!

With Human skill!

With the cleverness of chimps

With bigger brains.

We are building a better Universe

and evolving into

What Love becomes

 When Love is beyond comprehension!

Science and faith are volatile lovers

dancing a tango  through time

Hugging and parting

Grasping and rejecting

whirling and twirling

fighting as fiery lovers fight

Shouting and slapping and flinging things!

The Neighbors shake their heads in exasperation!

In lulls between the fights

they hug together

in the velvet darkness of the Universe

embracing with their mutual love,

Gazing with shared longings

at the far

and friendly stars.

They embrace with passion

In peace and desperation

With one small remnant of hope

That things can somehow be better!

Out comes a brawny Love Child

Growing as a seed to entwine the Universe.

Doing what all life does.

Getting bigger,

Getting stronger.

Learning.

Playing as all children play

With the pretty Universe

Wondering

Wandering

and becoming more and more!

What a sight when His muscles grow!

What an Einstein when His mind does!

In time as all good children do

He prepares a place of rest for His parents.

Heals their Illness

Brings them peace at last

For

Then we die

And we get to enjoy it.
